I Want to Soar with You

“Yet those who wait for the LORD will gain new strength;

Two Eagles II

Here I am again, Lord, in my well-nested perch
Weary, achy, slightly bored perhaps?
Whatever ails, the boughs of this high birch
with lullabies sway me to a restful nap

I want to soar with You, but halting steps prevent
my fearless rise on airstream’d currents strong
You whisper low of peace that passes all
and reassure me it will not be long
before You beckon, “Soar with Me again!”

They will mount up with wings like eagles,

Eagle full flight II

You promise as I wait for You, I’ll find
that in the waiting, power is endued
On pinions strong like eagles’ I shall climb
and pierce the winds confronting, bursting through
above the storm to soar with You again

They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.”

Eagles walk not faint II

Rejuvenated, bright and full You nourish
with daily Bread whose muscle never tires,
Lengthy draughts from streams of Living water
refresh my soul and lift my spirit higher

The stillness lifts, a breeze begins, continues,
invigorating, Holy Spirit blows –
with quickened pace of winged feet I enter
the race again as one who, mindful, knows

The cycle will revisit that old birch tree,
or mountain crag, or high and lofty peak
Today I run or walk – the pace You settle –
Your everlasting arms secure beneath

“Rise up, my love! This season’s wait is over;
I stir the atmosphere as I pass by –
Dig down, breathe deep, mount up on wings like eagles;
you want to soar with Me? Come, let us fly!
I want to soar with you!”
